Legendary record producer and notorious mental case Phil Spector got sentenced today to 19 years to life for the murder of Lana Clarkson. According to a parade of witnesses, Phil liked to play a friendly game of Russian Roulette with his dates when he was particularly inebriated. Unfortunately for Lana, she lost.
Spector may be a dangerously insane killer of B-movie actresses, but he did make some truly great records in the '60s, and you've got to separate the art from the artist. Dostoevsky was a degenerate gambler, owed money all over town, but the son of a bitch could write a damn good novel.
It was nice knowing ya, Philly.
Cue the intro to "Be My Baby."
